Terms of Service
Last updated 13 October 2026
These terms apply to this website and to the State of My Money app. By using either, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or the app.
1. What this is
State of My Money is a personal finance tool for recording and reviewing your own transactions. You import statements you have exported from your own bank.
The app runs on your device and stores your data there. There is no account and no server-side copy of your ledger. See the Privacy Policy for how that works and what it means for recovery.
2. Not financial advice
The app shows you what you recorded. It does not provide financial, tax, accounting or investment advice, and nothing it displays should be relied on as such. Figures it produces are only as accurate as the statements you imported and the categorisation you applied.
3. Your responsibilities
- Keep backups. Your data lives on your device. We cannot recover it for you. Use the backup export regularly.
- Check your imports. Automatic column detection and category suggestions are aids, not guarantees. Review what was imported.
- Use your own data. Only import statements and records you are entitled to hold.
- Keep your device secure. Since the data is local, the security of the device is your responsibility.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use this site or the app to break the law, to interfere with the service for anyone else, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems or data, or to submit content through our signup forms that you are not entitled to submit, including bulk or automated submissions.
5. Emails
If you subscribe, you agree to receive the updates you asked for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove your address using the contact details below.
6. Availability and changes
The app is under active development, and features may change, break or be removed. The website and app are provided on an "as available" basis, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
7. Intellectual property
The website, the app and their contents are owned by us or our licensors. Your data remains yours. These terms do not transfer any ownership of your data to us.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and app are provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. You use them at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profits or savings, arising from your use of the site or the app. This includes loss of your data where no backup was kept.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of this service is established, and any dispute will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.
11. Contact
